This year began on a cold note,
and I listen to the resolutions everyone quotes,
A new beginning is waiting for me there,
but I lack the excitement because you are not here.

The winter continues to send shivers across,
and I gather myself to overcome your loss.
The icy weather coerces layers upon layers,
but I do not feel the chill because you are not here.
Cuckoo’s song marks the onset of the spring,
a novel way of life makes the baby leaves sing,
Everyone discusses nature’s beauty sitting in their chairs,
but I do not see the beauty because you are not here.

The season of the mangoes arrives with a bang,
people stay indoors as the sun bares its fangs,
The tanned and burned ones get everyone’s stares,
but my skin does not sear because you are not here.
The ravishing rain provides respite from heat,
these drops have set in a mood arduous to beat,
Children drench in puddles with least care,
but I just get wet because you are not here.

I do not see the change people talk about,
I am blind to dead leaves which lifelessly come out,
As autumn gets the command over the weather,
and these birds shed their old feathers.

I have gone all numb because you are not here,
each and every bit of me won’t be spared.
Things would never be the same again,
because only your memories remain…
