One of my favourite delivery outlets, Fresh Menu has recently launched a new menu and it was difficult for me to wait to try my hands on its lovely delicacies.
They have a daily food menu and I decided to try a Wednesday one.
Mushroom Fusilli Alfredo: You will find a hell lot of fusilli one white sauce with button mushrooms, but if the same dish comes with the addition of the juicy shiitake mushrooms, please do try it! The white sauce here was not too runny or too creamy – just the perfect consistency. Highly recommended.
Creamy Peppercorn Chicken Spaghetti: If there is a place serving pasta, I always chose spaghetti. Because it imbibes the flavours of the sauce so well! So this particular bowl of spaghetti was perfectly served in a slurpy yet creamy red sauce with the right amount of black pepper. Not to forget the succulent grilled chicken and firm vegetables. Highly recommended.
Red Velvet Swiss Roll: Perfect ending to a perfect meal! I have a thing for luscious Swiss Rolls and when they come in red velvet – my my! This one was so soft and so airy! Not to forget the moderate sweetness and the high quality cream.
Nandos has always been my family’s go to place during birthdays and anniversaries. And why it should not be? It is a heaven for chicken livers – wings, legs or boneless bits, they have it all.
This one situated in Connaught place is a huge complex with comfortable seatings, sunshine and a live kitchen.
Spicy chicken wings: If wings have a crusty exterior, then hats down to the chef! These wings were also juicy from inside and the outer skin was sprayed with Peri Peri sprinkle, thus imparting a typical tangy and pepper flavour. Recommended.
Chicken skewers, pita and fresh salsa: The tender chicken skewers were grilled to perfection and drenched in a creamy yogurt based sauce. The airy pita breads and the spicy vegetable salsa complimented the skewers very well. Highly recommended.
Espatada Carnivy: Okay, first if all I am really confused from where to start. The sight if this dish is enough to make you drool. The succulent boneless chicken bits grilled to juicy goodness and heavily drowned in their tangy and creamy sauce – an ensemble to behold first and then relished on your palate. And those crunchy fries did come in handy. Highly recommended.
Pina Colada: A big thank you to the chef manager Anshika for suggesting this. The lovely concoction of pineapple, coconut milk and of course vodka was refreshing and went pretty well with all the amazing chicken dishes.
Tete-a-tete or Guftagu is what we yearn for after a long hectic day at work or an unpredictable week. And when that is coupled by Sher-o-shayari, stand up comedy or poetic renditions, then the experience becomes super special.
The relaxing interiors coupled with myriad colours will enchant you and the love food counter will definitely keep you salivating.
The menu boasts of many lip smacking and never heard before dishes like chicken rollers, fish fingers which are coated in KFC style, red velvet shake and what not!
Finally, I got an opportunity to taste the jaw drawing delicacies from Twigly which has captured the palates of many NCR dwellers. And after a long time, I was pleasantly surprised to give a 5/5 rating to every dish that I tasted from a delivery joint.
Beirut Chicken Sandwich: Firm loaves of multi grain breads enclosing shredded chicken, chopped onions, tomatoes and beetroot drenched in a creamy white sauce with the prominent flavour of black pepper. The chicken pieces are lusciously mellow and the freshness of the ensemble can give you a major food coma. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Twigly Signature grilled Cajun Chicken: I expected the grilled chicken pieces to be tangy and spicy but nonetheless, their juiciness took my heart away. Moreover, the Cajun herbs had penetrated to the insides of the chicken pieces. These succulent babies, served with a creamy caper based sauce having a runny texture and freshly baked pita bread is a wholesome meal in itself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Veg chlorophyll pesto fista: It is tricky to prepare pesto sauce because the characteristic bitterness of the pesto sauce can mar the dish. But the sauce in this dish was perfectly balanced with the pasta cooked al-dante and fresh crunchy vegetables serving as the icing on the cake. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Delivery: On time
Grilled chicken in pesto sandwich: The chicken mince was fine but the characteristic flavour of pesto sauce was missing here.
Chicken sausage and mushroom bowl: The sausages, the mushrooms and the vegetables were fresh and juicy but the same can not be said about the brown rice which was dry.
Garden fresh veggie pizza: The vegetables are freshly sourced and taste crunchy but the base had a burnt flavour and texture and was way too crisp. If the amount of sauce is increased, then the extra crispiness of the base can be avoided.
Barbeque chicken pizza: Again, the topping was first class but only if the pizza base could have been better.
The excessive use of chilli flakes can be avoided because it mars the overall flavour of the item.
We appreciate the efforts of restaurant in exploring the cooking techniques for healthy dishes but at the same time quality and taste are a bit difficult to maintain. All the best to them and hope that they will succeed.
Overall rating: 3/5
For a health conscious foodie/food blogger like me, calorie counted meals are a treat while eating out. And when a delivery outlet decides to serve calorie counted dishes prepared in olive oil, I cannot keep my hands or palate away.
Grillled chicken breast: Not so good. Too much of Italian seasoning mars the experience of digging into a juicy chicken breast. Additionally, this one got chewy and dry and the herbs had not penetrated to the insides.
Chicken seekh salad: My favourite kebabs re-invented in a healthy salad – now how cool is that? Finely chopped seekh kebabs in a medley of chopped cucumbers, beetroot, bell peppers, carrots and tomatoes drenched in a tangy and spicy dressing with hints of oregano – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Scrambled egg package: The potato mash and the scrambled eggs were pretty bland in taste though the texture was good. The package also consisted of boiled peas and French beans which were doused in tangy spices. RECOMMENDED.
Chicken Rara: Oh boy! Where to start? The chicken was perfectly mellow, the tomato based gravy rich and full of flavours and the whole ensemble goes so well with our humble roti. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I began my food exploring with TGIF and I used to be a regular one there a while back. Their American and Tex-Mex menu with huge portion sizes always attracted the glutton in me.
So when TGIF introduces their new menu, it is onerous for gluttons like me to keep calm as the enticing dishes call our palate. Here are a few of them that I recently tasted:
Grilled Chimichurri chicken skewers: Light crust, juicy but slightly dry – the chicken pieces were probably char grilled at a higher temperature which left them pretty chewy. The skewers were served with potato wedges which were light and a hot chilli garlic Sriracha sauce. RECOMMENDED.
Parmesan crusted chicken with fettucine and salad: A classy masterpiece. If two juicy chicken breasts marinated in a creamy Caesar dressing and finished with a crumbly parmesan crust aren’t enough to leave you spellbound then the sweet onion, cherry tomato and moazarella salad and the creamy fettucine with chopped spinach and spring onions will cast an enchantment over your taste buds. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Jack Daniel’s Tobasco steak and shrimp: The steak is “well done” in the Jack Daniel’s sauce and it is easier to cut and chew. The shrimps have a crispy outer covering and belong to the freshest catch that the restaurant could lay its hands upon. Their special Jack Daniel’s sauce, fashioned from caramelised onions and honey compliments the steak and the prawns well. Served with a smooth potato mash and juicy buttered broccoli – this one is a winner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Jack Daniel’s Norwegian Salmon: The salmon is char grilled and has a perfect glaze of the Jack Daniel’s sauce but is over grilled and hence slightly chewy. RECOMMENDED.
Chocolate mud pie: A frozen dessert with warm chocolate and almond mouse covering over it. Chocolate crumble crust, coffee ice cream and almond mouse make up this three layered extraordinary dessert. The ice cream and mouse are frozen in the crumble crust and the ensemble tastes divine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Where to start guys!
I have been quite regular at this one. Their cool ambience, kickass deals (star and stripes) and yummy food attracts me again and again.
TGIF’s Cajun Chicken Wings are to die for. Earlier, they used to be tangy and spicy but now you have to specify whether you want the tanginess or spiciness to be there. Nonetheless, this dish dish is juicy to the core – the herbs penetrate to the inside of the chicken and the blue cheese dip (papprika and red chilli flakes) they serve will definitely erupt your mouth – too hot and spicy!
Recently when we there, we also tried Miami Cubano Chicken Stack – topped with mozzarella and bacon and served with rice and mushroom. Phew! Fulfilling main course! The steak was soft, tender and mildly spiced with crispy bacon strips between two steaks. Rice was good with chewy mushrooms adding to the subtle flavours. Overall a fully worth every penny meal!
The service is pretty good here with pro-active and well informed servers. The one who served us was Krishna. He did his job very well.
This place is always bustling with an amazing crowd.
