Health Cafe, New Friends Colony, Delhi

Finally my ardent desire to visit the famed Hwealth Cafe has come to fruition. I am becoming health conscious day by day and I prefer not to feel guilty while eating out.

The vibrantly hued cafe will be a treat to your eyes with green interiors, potted plants, foosball table and ludo spread.

Strawberry blueberry shake: Slightly sweet, slightly sour, this pleasant tasting shake is a perfect healthy accompaniment to your salads.

Chocolate peanut butter shake: Forget healthy, I am more concerned about the decadence of this shake. The rich warm chocolate perfectly blends with the sweet salty peanut butter thereby giving a shake with a plethora of flavours.

Corn nachos with hummus, Peri Peri dip and pesto dip: The deafening crunch while you bite into this will keep you addicted and the freshly prepared dips won’t let you stop.

IMG_20180811_135722-01

Pan tossed masala cottage cheese fingers: The usual cottage cheese is getting monotonous and the healthy versions available today are sometimes nauseatic. But the chefs at the Hwealth Cafe know perfectly well how to make paneer appetizing as well as healthy. The cottage cheese cuboids are lightly grilled and are topped with a subtle barbeque sauce with hints of black pepper providing the necessary zing.

Baked egg white in mushroom veloutte sauce: No yellows and hence, I do not gave to feel guilty about binging on my favourite food item. And that light creamy mushroom sauce with chopped pungent garlic compliments the grilled toast and egg white.

IMG_20180811_135955-01

Mediterranean veggies wrap: This will be a heaven for vegetarians as the amount of sliced vegetables enclosed in whole wheat wraps or our humble roti as I would like to call is enough to fill your rumbling belly. The sauce used is hell spicy so watch out.

IMG_20180811_135813-01

Spaghetti in spinach garlic sauce: Kudos to them for coming out with a healthy and innovative dish but this can be made better. The spinach sauce tastes way too bitter and mars the slurpy flavour of spaghetti by making it sticky.

IMG_20180811_142311-01

Chicken breast in mushroom sauce with sauteed vegetables and brown rice: Perfectly grilled juicy chicken breast which oozes out the sauces while getting torn, cut apart or chewed upon is every foodie’s dream. And when this chicken is paired with soft brown rice with chopped vegetables and sauteed vegetables, my my you have a winner!

Hauz Khas Social, Hauz khas Village, New Delhi

So when Social Offline, one of my favourite restaurant chains in the Delhi NCR launches their special Summer Menu, could I keep my hands and palate from relishing their well thought dishes? An absolute no!

Unkiller/ Abra Kebab-ra veg kebab platter: Highly unlikely for me to go for a full blown vegetarian kebab platter? Yes, well, I have outgrown my choice for the meaty dishes and a once in a while platter “in which no animals were harmed” does sound appetizing. The mellow paneer tikka drenched in pickle like spices did tantalize the taste buds but could have been grilled more. The Achaari soya chaap was amazingly grilled and had a thin crust with a tender chewy interior. The tandoori momos were good and had a hearty filling of finely chopped mushrooms, beans, onion, broccoli, carrots, cabbage and baby corn. The spicy Malai mushroom was grilled well and was melt in the mouth with the lovely cream adorning it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Celebrity Bhelpuri: Let us move over from our usual bhelpuri prepared with puffed rice to the one fashioned with puffed Amaranth, quinoa crisps, flaxseeds, granola, pomegranate, peanuts, freshly cut kiwi and oranges. The crunchy texture of the ensemble coupled with the sweet and peppery flavours bursting on your palate does transform you into heaven. Moreover, it is healthy too! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180519_140636-01

Shiitake and mushroom pizza: Special mention – The chef specifically doubled the quantity of mushrooms when he came to know about my love for the chewy fungi. The pizza was what an ideal pizza should be like – thin crust with no charred remains, optimum quantity of cheese that stretches but is not overwhelming, flavourful tomato sauce topping and well grilled shiitake and button mushrooms. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180519_144021-01

Anda mutton seekh paratha: Why did they serve me this? Because I can not get over the food coma experienced while gorging on this lovely dish. The firm yet tender and heavily spiced mutton seekh kebabs were paired with the bland and flaky Malabar paratha which had a thim omelette on the other side. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180519_143938-01

Summer fruit pavlova: Finally someone here knows how to dish out a pavlova which does not taste like our humble “batasha”! The crispy and airy pavlova was baked to perfection with slightly caramelized edges and topped with fresh cream and fruits – a layered dessert exuding the summery charm. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180519_151847-01

Peanut butter fondant with vanilla ice cream: Well, well, yours truly finished this combination on her own with no qualms at all! How could I stop myself from feasting upon the moderately sweet, warm, melt in the mouth chocolate fondant topped with melted peanut butter and peanuts? And when I got slightly exhausted from the warm sweet and salty ensemble, I gorged upon the cool and creamy vanilla ice cream. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Forestta, Sector 54, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon

So finally there is a café in Gurgaon which is located in the premium location of Golf Course Road and which is not a water hole unlike the proliferating restaurants here.
Forestta deserves a special mention for being a place where you can sit quietly with your friends and family, enjoy their collection of best selling books, play snooker or relish Karoake on Thursday nights. It is a no go place for alcohol lovers and kid friendly too.
Wooden interiors and vibrant ambience with a touch of greenery welcome you as you sail aboard this place. The menu is varied and is optimally priced. Here are a few items that I recently binged upon:
Mango Smoothie: Made from real alphonso mangoes with no added flavours, this one is a must try for smoothie lovers.

IMG_20180207_195029_01-01
Veg kebab platter: A well grilled paneer tikka, crispy tandoori broccoli drenched in spices, juicy mushrooms and mellow poatatoes filled with a peppery filling – vegetarians, you have a profound reason to visit this place.

IMG_20180207_200000-01
Non veg platter: Fish Tikka which does not disintegrate easily and is soft to the core, mouth gasmic chicken tikka which is extra mellow, firm yet juicy mutton seekh kebab and spicy and tangy tandoori chicken – it is difficult to stop yourselves if you are a hardcore non vegetarian.

IMG_20180207_201227-01
Afghani Tandoori momos: As of the usual Tandoori momos were not enough! With a chewy exterior and mushy interiors slathered in a sticky creamy sauce, you are bound to get surprise.

IMG_20180207_203712-01
Vegetarian spring rolls: A defined crunch sounds awakens your senses as you bite into this blissful piece of sheer culinary magic.

Majnu Ka Tilla, Sushant Lok, Gurgaon

There are very few places specialising in Mughlai cuisine which are able to dish out a decent meal, forget about bringing their innovation to the table. The usual tikkas and kebabs sometimes get boring and creative energy in culinary arts is the rule of the day. Majnu ka Tilla has excelled on both the frontiers.

Without much ado, I would straightaway move forward to the loebly spread that was sent to me a few days back:

Chicken Tangri Kebab: Why in the name of God did I taste this? I have always been drawn towards the salivating Tangri Kebabs and these stuffed ones in thick sticky gravy just set a new bar for my taste buds. The stuffing of finely minced chicken with a juicy exterior of the leg piece drenched in yoghurt based gravy and the occasional green chillies will leave you yearning for more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170910_211107-01

Achaari Paneer Tikka: Tangy and spicy – wohoooo! The smoked cottage cheese pieces and the red, yellow and green bell peppers were smoked to perfection in the tangy and peppery batter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170910_210740-01

Majnu Special Afghani Chicken: The reason these guys call some of their dishes as special is because they use gravy in these appetizers. The tikka was perfectly smoked, succulent and drenched in a lovely gravy of yoghurt, green chillies and coriander flavoured with chaat masala . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170910_205839-01

Chicken Tikka: Again gravy based with tender boneless chicken pieces spreading the warmth in your mouth as well as stomach. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170910_210235-01

Paneer Lababdar: Vegetarians, you have to binge on this one. Thick and sliky gravy with the occasional bite of cumin seeds and a prominent flavour of the onion tomato mixture goes so well with every Indian bread that you can think of. And the paneer – top notch! They also use a secret ingredient in their preparation which I am of course forbidden to reveal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Wok Me, Greater Kailash 1, New Delhi

So after a long time, we got to experience South Asian/Oriental dishes a few days back and we were pretty impressed with the delivery service of Wok Me. The order came at 7:50pm, 10 minutes before our designated time. How often does that happen?

Neatly packaged in paper boxes with no spill overs, these were the items that we tasted:

Chicken Lemongrass Sio Mai Dimsums: You know the dimsums are unusual when they are adorned with caramelised garlic on top. The thick, sticky, translucent and soft skin enclosing finely minced chicken with lemongrass surely tastes like heaven. The fresh flavour provided by lemongrass is the USP of this dish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170914_200453-01

Yum Yum Rolls: True to their names, these vegetarian spring rolls were yummy to the core! The crunchy and flaky exterior and the soft juicy interior consisting of finely julienned cabbage and carrots can inflame your palette. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170914_200246-01

Make your own Wok Box – Flat Rice noodles in spicy coconut curry: The appearance of these noodles would not entice you since the curry had dried up by the time the order reached us, but the flavours will. The noodles are healthy as they are fashioned from rice and have a velvety smooth texture. The aroma and taste of the coconut gravy is tantalising to your taste buds and the addition of carrot juliennes, cottage cheese cubes, baby corn and shiitake mushrooms makes this a complete meal. The topping of peanuts and sesame seeds is so mouth watering! RECOMMENDED.

Recommendations: The noodles were slightly dry. They could have been moister.
