Healthy Eats, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi

Delivery: On time

Packaging: Perfect

Grilled chicken in pesto sandwich: The chicken mince was fine but the characteristic flavour of pesto sauce was missing here.

IMG_20180418_203509-01

Chicken sausage and mushroom bowl: The sausages, the mushrooms and the vegetables were fresh and juicy but the same can not be said about the brown rice which was dry.

IMG_20180418_203317-01

Garden fresh veggie pizza: The vegetables are freshly sourced and taste crunchy but the base had a burnt flavour and texture and was way too crisp. If the amount of sauce is increased, then the extra crispiness of the base can be avoided.

IMG_20180418_203807-01

Barbeque chicken pizza: Again, the topping was first class but only if the pizza base could have been better.

IMG_20180418_204413-01

The excessive use of chilli flakes can be avoided because it mars the overall flavour of the item.

We appreciate the efforts of restaurant in exploring the cooking techniques for healthy dishes but at the same time quality and taste are a bit difficult to maintain. All the best to them and hope that they will succeed.

Overall rating: 3/5

The Turkey Project, Defence Colony, New Delhi

The food industry continues to develop at an exponential pace and this has resulted in a mushrooming of outlets which fail to deliver on quality. So when you visit a small café specialising in Italian cuisine which surprises you with their unusual menu and mouth watering dishes, you know that you will have a good time.
Most of their dishes have the prefix “turkey” associated with them and from what I understood, this word signifies bacon and their experimentation with it. I really hope I am correct.
Frickens: The kind of crumb fried chicken available these days does not even remotely impress me. So when I binged upon this juicy boneless chicken strip crumb fried and adorned in tangy sweet sauce and mayonnaise, my taste buds went in a food coma. The best part is that the crispy exterior does not separate even after being kept for 15-20 minutes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180317_134721-01
Fries: I am really not a big fan of fries even if they have donned a swanky appearance these days – curlies, crinkles, wedges and like. The ones served here were curly fries and drenched in a heart warming mixture of melted cheddar cheese, chopped onions and jalapenos. The quality of cheese is so good that it does not solidify even after an hour of being kept in open. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180317_134925-01
Santorini pizza: Such colours! The vegetables – bell peppers and olives are not over grilled and present a crunchy texture associated with freshness. The cheese is not overwhelming and spreads very beautifully on the thin crust. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180317_140855-01
Turkey pizza: Finally my dream has turned into a reality! A pizza exclusively dedicated to bacon – ohhh man, such heaven! The quality of bacon is again top notch with the lovely crunch and firmness intact. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A truffled affair: My love for spaghetti reached new heights when I relished the slurpy spaghetti served here. Served with chewy mushrooms and sautéed in truffle oil, mushroom pate and garlic cream, this was a gourmand’s delight. The characteristic subtle bitterness of the mushroom paste adds to the maelstrom of flavours to this dish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20180317_141118-01
Cheesecake tart: If you are slightly hungry, this cheesecake is enough to fill your belly. Dense and smooth cheese cake over a firm tart base and topped with fresh mint leaves and thick nutella syrup will definitely leave you in splits.

Like Italy, GK-1, New Delhi

With time and tasting, I have developed a taste for authentic Italian and it is always a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant serving good dishes with the ingredients sourced from Italy. Like Italy, situated in the hustle bustle of the M block market, GK-1 is one of the those places which offer peace along with a host of lip smacking Italian dishes.

Grilled sausage salad: A raw salad with crunchy and smoked vegetables and perfectly grilled sausages can be your perfect brunch partner. The sausages are firm but tender, the smoked red bell pepper juicy and the spinach leaves fresh.  Just douse this in the tangy mustard dip served and you are in for a roll! RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20171029_132527-01

Amatriciano con Bacon: The slightly thick slurpy spaghetti prepared in a creamy and flavourful red sauce with sautéed bacon strips – please can I have this dish again? I am not a fan of red sauce but this one had me binge eat a whole portion. A balanced sauce does the trick I guess so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this.

IMG_20171029_132624-01

Involtini di pollo with backed potatoes – chicken breast and ham roll: A perfect dish for a main course and a heavy one for that matter. The thick ham rolls are filled with a creamy mixture of spinach with the crunchy potato wedges completing the picture. RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20171029_133020-01

Pancetta e scamorza pizza: The warm melting scamorza cheese flowing over a medium crust pizza adorned with a fresh tomato sauce topping and bacon strips is a dream come true for any non vegetarian pizza lover. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

IMG_20171029_141303-01

Veneta pizza: The fresh chicken sausage, mushrooms and onions topped with mozzarella and parmesan are good enough but the tomato sauce topping could have been more flavourful.

Capsicum Pizza: You will not want to eat this because it is so colourful and inviting! The reds, the yellows and the greens perfectly blend on the whites of the mozzarella cheese and their slightly smoky texture compliments the gooey cheese. RECOMMENDED

IMG_20171029_141918-02

Grigliata Pizza: The smoked vegetables: mushrooms, zucchini and onions are flavourful but charred and you get a “burnt” kind of flavour here. This could have been more flavourful.

Panna Cotta: The set and smooth cream with subtle sweetness topped with the crunchy biscuit crumble – perfect climax. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

#nofilter, SDA

A perfect place to relax and unwind after a long hectic day. The ambience is simple with soft yellow lights that makes you feel comfortable.

Here are the dishes that I tried-

Parle-G Shake – This is the first time I heard of this shake. Reminisce about your childhood by indulging in this beauty. It seems moderately sweet when you take the first sip but later on it seems alot sweeter. RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170811_155219

Beetroot Seekh Kebab – Beetroot is one veggie that has crawled it’s way into the menus of some major restaurants. This kekab was soft and tender and a little bit spicy. You will not be satisfied with just one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170811_163151

#nofilter Tenders – It tikles your taste buds in all the right ways. A crispy exterior with soft filling of cottage cheese inside is a must try. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170811_163532

Chicken Chatkara Pizza – Oodles of cheese and chicken tikka on a pizza, need we ask for more? Chicken tikka was well marinated and juicy as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170811_165124Butter Chicken Pasta – Something to rejoice for all the butter chicken lovers, this pasta is served with garlic naan instead of garlic bread. A perfect fusion of Italian with Indian, this pasta is creamy and lusciouss.

IMG_20170811_172154

#nofilter Fusion Burger – A monstrous patty which is made of minced chicken and lamb. It is tender but it is quite heavy as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Ardor 2.1, Connaught Place, New Delhi

With the health fad catching up with us, can the restaurants be far behind? And a special festival to showcase new dishes created in a healthy way with organic cocktails and mocktails is surely the icing on the cake.

The Flaming Pizza and Kebab festival took place from the 1st to the 15th of August at Ardor 2.1, situated in the outer circle of N block in C.P. Regal, colonial interiors, British architecture and impeccable service welcomes you as you take a look at this place. Talking about food, here is the vegetarian menu for the festival:

Paneer mirchi ki seekh: These melt in the mouth beauties fashioned out of a fine mixture of yoghurt and minced cottage cheese and tempered on skewers is a must try new appetizer for the vegetarians. Though I wish the quantity of the green chillies could have been greater to balance the sweetness. RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170814_131416-01

Achaari Kumbh: Another heavenly dish for the mushroom lovers. Two huge juicy and smoked mushrooms slathered with pickle like spice mixture sandwiching a lovely filling of minced paneer and mushrooms with onions, garlic, sesame seeds and spices – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Paneer tikka Ajwaini: When we recommend Paneer Tikka from a place, you have to trust our judgement. Because an ordinary paneer tikka fails to pleases us. This one was however spot on – slightly smoky and crusty exterior and soft from inside with the flavour of ajwain or carrom seeds or ajwain bursting out.

IMG_20170814_131931-01

Punjabi Soya Chaap: Excellently done with chewy exterior and mellow insides. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Grilled Veggie Inslata Pizza Flambe with Old Monk: Ahhh, so this is the flaming pizza on which the ongoing festival is named. Firstly, the pizza is overloaded with fresh vegetables which maintain their essence – juicy yellow and green zucchini, chewy broccoli, crunchy baby corn and green bell pepper on a bed of warm mozzarella. Secondly, the top portion is flamed with old monk which in a way smoulders the vegetables and the cheese. The resultant has a slightly bitter taste of old monk but nonetheless appetizing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170814_133947-01

But if you are not used to the bitterness of the alcohol, then you might not like it. If higher grades of smooth rum or whiskey are used, then a balance can be achieved.

Organic watermelon LIIT: Our same old lethal LIIT concocted with fresh pulpy watermelon juice and served in a watermelon with a side tap – stuff of a fantasy land but a reality now! No added flavours or enhancers, just pure natural fruit juice mixed with rum, gin, tequila, vodka and whiskey. RECOMMENDED.

Uncultured Cafe & Bar, Kailash Colony, New Delhi

Situated in Kailash Colony, this is a fancy restaurant which serves some lip smacking dishes. Uncultured should be your go to place if you love trying on a myriad of cuisines. A great rooftop terrace is just one of the advantages of visiting this place.

IMG_0688

I recently got an opportunity to taste some of its items and here are a few of them:

Fish fingers: Served with a dip, these are crunchy and had a subtle taste. RECOMMENDED

IMG_0649-01

Oreo Shake: Yes we all are head-over-heels in love with this one already. Heavenly is just too small a word to describe this. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_0676-01

Chicken pizza: When I order chicken pizza, I expect chicken to be there as well. But you need a magnifying glass to locate the chicken pieces on the pizza as there are hardly any.

IMG_0657-01

Primavera Pizza: Now atleast this pizza was not disappointing. It had a lot of bell peppers, olives, zucchini and a good amount of cheese as well. RECOMMENDED

IMG_0653-01

Chilli Mushroom: Its time to move on from the regular chilli chicken and chilli paneer and try this dish. As I am not a huge fan of mushrooms, it does taste a little bit weird in the starting. But the spiciness and the tanginess of the mushrooms will definitely delight you. Its spiciness hits you and tanginess makes you fall in love with this dish. RECOMMENDED

IMG_0658-01

Grilled Prawn: Ordering this one was a huge mistake as it is high on disappointment. The prawns were bitter and I could not even finish the one I tasted.

IMG_0670

Chicken 65 Bruschetta: After a huge disappointment faced from grilled prawns, this was a beautiful respite. It had oodles of cheese covering the soft juicy chicken placed on toasty bread which leaves you wanting for more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_0662-01

Grilled Fish in lemon butter sauce: Served with a dip and side vegetables, the fish was mellow and had a sublte taste. Light on your stomach, it certainly leaves you wanting for more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The Junction, Hauz Khas, New Delhi

This new property in Delhi is actually a junction of multiple cuisine trains. Spread across a huge area with different sections, this one boasts of a distinct sushi and dimsums bar, The Big Baker with a lovely assortment of desserts, a pizzeria, an outdoor seating area under the shade of trees (full marks for that) and indoor fine dine area. The Junction redefines the word multi-cuisine for you by serving multiple cuisines from all the courses. Here are a few of them that I recently tasted:

Veg pizza: The thinnest crust with a lovely succulency and the chewiness and juiciness of yellow and green zucchinis should not be missed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170327_164309-01

Chicken dimsums: The exceptionally thin exterior is attractive but the extremely tangy flavour of the mine chicken mince is not acceptable.

IMG_20170327_170612-01

Mushroom wantons: I usually avoid wantons because they are deep fried but I could not keep my hands off this one. The finely chopped mushrooms were enveloped in a chewy exterior whichw as fried to crispy perfection. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170327_171700-01

California roll: Their sushis are a must try and this one was a burst of subtle flavours – sweet, tangy and piquant. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170327_164548-01

Mac n cheese: Ahh, the gooey cheese works its magic again! The al dante macaroni drenched in warm parmesan with bits of chicken is one dish which you would not want to miss! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

IMG_20170327_170118-01

Veg mezze platter: I have never ever tasted a mezze platter like this one! For the first time, the pita breads were slathered with butter and were soft yet crispy – the characteristic brittleness was absent here. Additionally, the beetroot flavoured dip was ohh-so-delicious! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Prawn dimsums: If you leave the intense watery aroma of prawns aside, the these dimsums are heavenly! The skin and the filling are perfect and better than the chicken ones here.

IMG_20170327_175151-01

Chicken and cashewnut dumplings: Who could have thought that the nuttiness and crunchiness of the cashewnuts could be used to innovate the usual chicken dimsums? These guys did and it turned out excellent! And the form of these lovelies are way too attractive. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
