Dilli Darbar, Sushant Lok, Gurgaon

Delhi has become a melting pot of different cultures of India and dishes belonging to majority of the regions can be found here. But the presence of Kashmiri, Mughlai and Punjabi delicacies is more compared to the other types. Dilli Durbar is one such restaurant opened up in Gurgaon catering to these specific regional cuisines.

I had the opportunity to taste the following dishes and I relished each one of them.

Rogan Josh : It will look as if is it is drenched in oil, but Rogan Josh is actually cooked in the fat of mutton. And when the fat melts, you see the oil floating on the top of the dish. For this one, I have to say it tasted so good! The quantity for herbs was optimum – the flavours of Black and Green Cardomam and pepper provided heat to the gravy. The mutton were succulent and were dripping with the spices. Highly recommended.

Butter Chicken : This dish has become the staple of North Indians. And Dilli Durbar’s creation is top notch. The gravy is ohhh-so-creamy, tangy and smooth and the chicken pieces are juicy and succulent. Another dish worth trying.

Butter Chicken Tikka : Now this has to be a different take on our usual chicken tikka. The chicken pieces are drenched in a tangy coriander based gravy which give a pickle like flavour to the dish. The tanginess can be reduced and made subtler, though.
