Malabar Paratha

Veg Shikampur kebabs: Mellow and fibrous kebabs with a dominant sweetness, the first bite will keep you wondering and the subsequent ones will flabbergasted you with a multitude of flavours. Not to be missed: the hotness of green chillies and garam masala.

Dum Ka Murg: I was honestly surprised by the number of chicken pieces in this dish. Usually restaurants provide only two pieces in a curried dish and that factor takes the excitement away from hogging to cursing.
The chicken is succulent and lavishly drenched in a thick gravy of yogurt, spices and cashew nuts paste. The icing or rather the icings on the cake are the caramelised onions topping this dish thus lending a smoky flavour.

Malabar paratha: Soft and chewy, this goes well with the chicken dish.

So when Social Offline, one of my favourite restaurant chains in the Delhi NCR launches their special Summer Menu, could I keep my hands and palate from relishing their well thought dishes? An absolute no!

Unkiller/ Abra Kebab-ra veg kebab platter: Highly unlikely for me to go for a full blown vegetarian kebab platter? Yes, well, I have outgrown my choice for the meaty dishes and a once in a while platter “in which no animals were harmed” does sound appetizing. The mellow paneer tikka drenched in pickle like spices did tantalize the taste buds but could have been grilled more. The Achaari soya chaap was amazingly grilled and had a thin crust with a tender chewy interior. The tandoori momos were good and had a hearty filling of finely chopped mushrooms, beans, onion, broccoli, carrots, cabbage and baby corn. The spicy Malai mushroom was grilled well and was melt in the mouth with the lovely cream adorning it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Celebrity Bhelpuri: Let us move over from our usual bhelpuri prepared with puffed rice to the one fashioned with puffed Amaranth, quinoa crisps, flaxseeds, granola, pomegranate, peanuts, freshly cut kiwi and oranges. The crunchy texture of the ensemble coupled with the sweet and peppery flavours bursting on your palate does transform you into heaven. Moreover, it is healthy too! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Shiitake and mushroom pizza: Special mention – The chef specifically doubled the quantity of mushrooms when he came to know about my love for the chewy fungi. The pizza was what an ideal pizza should be like – thin crust with no charred remains, optimum quantity of cheese that stretches but is not overwhelming, flavourful tomato sauce topping and well grilled shiitake and button mushrooms. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Anda mutton seekh paratha: Why did they serve me this? Because I can not get over the food coma experienced while gorging on this lovely dish. The firm yet tender and heavily spiced mutton seekh kebabs were paired with the bland and flaky Malabar paratha which had a thim omelette on the other side. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Summer fruit pavlova: Finally someone here knows how to dish out a pavlova which does not taste like our humble “batasha”! The crispy and airy pavlova was baked to perfection with slightly caramelized edges and topped with fresh cream and fruits – a layered dessert exuding the summery charm. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Peanut butter fondant with vanilla ice cream: Well, well, yours truly finished this combination on her own with no qualms at all! How could I stop myself from feasting upon the moderately sweet, warm, melt in the mouth chocolate fondant topped with melted peanut butter and peanuts? And when I got slightly exhausted from the warm sweet and salty ensemble, I gorged upon the cool and creamy vanilla ice cream. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
