After hearing rave reviews about this place, I decided to try Karnataka Bhawan out for a family dinner. We reached there at 8pm and were surprised to find that the usual waiting queue was not there.
We were immediately seated by the courteous servers. The place is small and can seat only 30 folks. There is a strange smell of coconut oil at some of the seats, so they should take care of these aspects.
Moving on to food, these are the dishes I tried:
Onion and tomato uttapam : Very bad. It had gone all soggy and the base was not crisp as it should be. The chopped onions were raw and were not the usual pink brown. The thickness of the uttapam was beyond the usual standards.
Mysore Masala Dosa : This was good to eat. The dosa was soft and the inner layer had a coating of red chilli powder. The filling of potatoes was bland though.
Rawa Masala Dosa : Never had a better one! The dosa was way too crispy and was embedded with black peppercorns and cumin. The quantity of the potato filling was good.
Sambhar : It was a bit tangy than the usual sambhar. Maybe my taste is different from the one made in Karnataka. The consistency of the sambhar was thick.
Coconut chutney : Way too salty and thick.
The service is good here.
